That's pretty neat, not sure if anyone has ever done this before (maybe halo 4?) but perhaps that's how they're getting around the 360's "oldness" and still making the game look pretty decent.
Excited to play this tomorrow and see how things are with it.

So is it the second coming of Christ as the Internet would have me believe?
Apparently, people are foaming at the mouth because Game Spot dared give it a 9/10. I believe the Escapist is currently on fire and the staff is being drawn and quartered for giving it a 3.5 out of 5.

I don't know how a review on a game that big is that short. It barely said anything, but I swear some sites do this to get buzz because I bet that low review got them a bunch of clicks.

The review had a reasonable point that in this game you're playing as a bunch of despicable human beings. He seemed to hate that and I'm sure there will be some that agree with him. Too me, that makes me much more interested in the game since whiney Nico wanting to make a new life but then gunning down hundreds of people really turned me off of GTA4.

Worked a half day and then ran a bunch of errands in the subburbs that took less time than anticipated, got home at 2pm and the game was in my mailbox waiting for me! Game seems super cool so far, the driving is so much better than in 4.

Yeah GTA4's story got to be kind of silly at points.
Nico: "I'm out! I'm starting a new life!"
**kills a billion dudes, steals cars, robs folks**
Nico: "OK, seriously, I'm out this time."

Been listening to people talk about the game, and it sounds fun, but I think I'll just wait until in inevitable next-gen console or PC release. No real reason to play this on the 360 or PS3 at this point.

So far, for me, GTA5 is the most fun I've had in the series. The checkpoint system on the missions actually makes sense... no more doing the beginning parts of a mission because you failed a later section because... everything happened so fast you couldn't react to a turn at 120mph that you didn't know was coming. Also the game is more forgiving on the distance you can get from mission targets in the chases. Hit a telephone pole and spun wildly off course because of the crazy physics? That's okay, you may ACTUALLY be able to recover in this game. Plus the car ejections are toned back. Yes you can eject from a car in this game... but it seems like everyone is wearing their seatbelt in this one as medium size accidents wont send you flying. The number of bullets you can take without armor is cut back from other games in the series... but since you can use cover now... it's not really an issue. Plus there are armor options available.
As for the graphics... when in a car... the game shows off the age of the system. When it's in a stillish scene? The texture and modelling work they did is amazing. Particularly at Michael's house there have been a few moments of photorealism for me. Where something happened on screen and my brain went into ... hey I'm watching a movie with real actors... mode and then flipped out of it. I can honestly say that's previously only happened to me on a few games in the past and it's a weird feeling. Kudos to Rock Star for getting this much out of the 360. Is it technically perfect? Nah. There is still pop in and texture loading you see all the time. There is aliasing and there are the occasional shit textures too. But frankly, this is as good as an open world can be on the 360/PS3. It's going to serve as a nice swan song for this generation I think.
And ... if the gameplay continues as it has for the first 5 hours... it will be the first GTA I have finished since GTA3. I always get too annoyed with the shitty mission structure in all the other GTA games. This one... seems to have it right.

I forgot to add... this is the most adult ... of any of the GTA games I've played.
There is no fucking way this game should be near any kid.

Combination of that... a dialogue obsession with all things sex related and the language itself. Seriously in your house you'd have to play the game with headphones at a min ... and after the kids are in bed for the visuals. Lotta topless females. Oddly enough thus far, the violence seems LESS than the previous titles. So far.

I played for a few hours last night and really enjoyed it. Driving is much improved as HT said, so much fun to just drive across town as fast as you can.
There's a ton of little things that I appreciate, like rivers that actually have flow to them (take a boat up the rapids, it's fun) and ambient noises and such.
The way they handled the story mode with the different characters is cool too.
