Just a heads up, there is an Xbox One specific Smartglass app on your favorite app store. I spent a good long while this weekend trying to get Smartglass to work with the XB1 not realizing I needed the new version. Not sure if the new app is backwards compatible with the old 360 hardware.

Anybody have any experience with Enerloop batteries? Thinking of using those instead of the XB1 play and charge kits this go around.
Also, anyone with an MS or 3rd party battery pack, does the XB1 tell you the battery level in the controller like the 360 did, ie - is it a "smart" battery?

I have not found where it tells you the battery level yet. I was looking for it too, wasn't obvious. For the AA's or the pack.

Oh I've seen that. To other Driveatars in front of me Watching them interact with each other is pretty hilarious too. I've seen 3-4 cars run off the road in the first corner by blocking AI personas. And I faked another AI into missing the corkscrew on Seca after I observed it's overzealous blocking for half a lap. It's glorious. And as people race more, it's only going to get better and better. You're not going to see any of those rammy bitches up in the higher difficulties because those rammy bitches aren't going to get high enough on the leaderboards to have their driveatars up there.

So, I monkeyed around in Forza more this evening and I should correct myself on what I said about manufacturer affinity. In F5, greater affinity gets you a percentage increase to race payouts rather than a percentage discount on upgrade parts like it did in F4. Still, money doesn't seem to be much of an issue, seeing as how every time I log on my Drivatar is netting me some cash on top of whatever I win by racing.
Also, I took a look at "renting" cars in Free Play. Basically, when you "rent" a car you get to drive whatever car you want for free, you just won't earn any affinity and you can't upgrade or tune it. The description says you can choose from "select cars," but the list doesn't seem restricted to me, other than by what the particular session is set up for. So, it pretty much seems like Free Play works just like it did in Forza 4.

The General rides again! Finally got a chance to dink around in paint mode, so I ended up recreating the General Lee again, as is my custom, then took it out for a test drive. Also, anybody else get gifted like 4 cars this evening? I got a McLaren P1 which was pretty awesome.

The damage model and deformation is gorgeous. I will have to take a few pictures of it tonight. The reflections on the cars actually warp with the body deformation. It really looks great on those big old 70s cars that were giant walls of metal on the sides.

I haven't had to grind or throw down real cash yet and I've been able to buy and fully upgrade 5 cars without even dipping into my freebie tokens yet. People are exaggerating the "grinding issue" by a large stretch. The only ones really having a rough go of it are the folks who only want to buy the most expensive cars in the game, right this very minute, without even attempting to play the game and those are the very people being targeted by the micro-transactions.
Honestly, the situation now isn't any different than what it was when Forza 4 was out, except people can exchange cash for shortcuts and fools and their money are soon parted.

I've used them for years now. Last forever and keep a charge for a long time. Also, I was tempted to pick up an Xbox One today. I canceled my preorder but there were 5 sitting on the shelf in Target. But, since I was buying gifts for others and just dropped about $200 on Steam I decided to hold off. $600 to play Forza I can't really justify.

Laugh, the venom coming from the Sony and PC fanbois is sure fierce. (regarding Forza commentary elsewhere today) The money situation is non-existent. Really. They hand out money at the same pace that Gran Turismo 1 through 4 and Forza 1 through 4 have handed out. Actually, quicker if you are a good racer. Pretending that it's setup to get you to spend real money is stupid. It's setup to reward people who play the game with 1-4 new cars per playing session.
And no, I haven't played KI online yet so I can't comment on it's net code. It can't be an isolated issue though. Seems like in order to maintain the appearance of local play it will let the two consoles diverge on a local hit detection. Allowing that... is going to lead to issues. Like his two videos.
His question of whether this will effect will somehow apply to OTHER Xbox games though... is stupid. No. Each game will obey it's programming like any computer does. It's not fucking magic.
I know that Dead or Alive always handled this by slowing the framerate to keep everything in synch. Same with Marvel versus I believe. Those games enforce synch the two consoles. No local stuff is allowed to happen.
