I have one too. I hope the xbox has a better sensor for remotes. The Elites had a fucked up sensor with a small cone of sensing, sucks hard

I do I do, but I'm not a kinect hater, so I'm not sure I'm the target of that question.

I too have a harmony remote and am not a hater. Is the XBone going to work better with one or something?

The new Kinect will act as an IR blaster/receiver. I believe if you route all of your stuff through the Xbox's HDMI port and the components support it, you can control everything through the Kinext IR sensor with your remote. So, you basically just need to aim at one place to control everything rather than worrying about having every device in your room have line of sight or a wide angle of sensing etc.
If you have a Harmony remote (or some other kind of universal remote) and a Kinect, you can effectively control everything with one remote and one target. That should be nice. I have the issue now where I can't hit my cable box, TV, and Xbox all at the same time from any one spot in the room, so whenever I run a scripted action on my remote, it always misses something.

Launch titles have been revealed for the Xbox One. All these are going to be available on day one. Also, if you live in Europe, you're getting FIFA 14 for free with every console pre-order. In the US, we get a sticker.

Yes my question was more in reference to the IR blaster, which is probably the most interesting enhancement on the new kinect. They can do a lot with that. Relaying a Harmony is one possibility. I am very curious how this thing will play out.
I saw the FIFA news this morning. Very interesting. MS Marketing is really on their heels after the E3 reception.

Ok while the ir blaster thing is pretty cool it's kind of dumb when you think about it. The xbox is the only device at least in my setup that has the worst sensor of my media devices. Everything else works fine but the xbox needs the remote directly in front of it to work correctly. I am guessing it will only control the cable box or can it the ir blaster also control the receiver and shit? It would be nice to keep my media cabinet closed all the time. I just got the Xfinity X1 box and after 3 days of not working they finally got it up and running. Works pretty well and I like the idea of it being connected to the xbox for a streamlined experience

Theoretically an IR blaster can control anything in the room with an IR sensor. The high end harmony remote setups actually ship with a blaster unit sometimes to place on your entertainment stand. Harmony even sells a stand alone blaster device that you control via tablet or smartphone... so that you don't need a remote to control everything. Neat product. The new Kinect is a level beyond that.
Since the new Kinect actually USES IR projection for it's night vision feature, it's going to flood the whole god damned room with the IR pulses. One of the developers I know reported that when they were fucking with it, they actually got the Kinect to change channels on a TV in another room using voice commands... because of IR reflections. How good or bad this all works depends on how much support MS puts on the One side for device specific pulse patterns.

So looking at the Launch list , is there anything anyone can rationalize the cost of the system to have , Day 1? Ive already stated Im skipping launch and Im grateful for the games for launch, I dont really want any of em bad enough. Now had Titan Fall or Destiny shipped day one I would have had a harder time abstaining. Not knockin Forza , cuz its my goto Sim racer , its just not enough for me on Day 1.

Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag, Dead Rising 3, Forza Motorsport 5, and Watch Dogs are the only ones I'm interested in on that list (although I really haven't been following the new stuff coming out that closely, and also counting stuff like Peggle 2 as launch titles is sketchy), but at least two of those are coming out for PC eventually (Ray get a PC) and I can wait and see how the remaining two and the rest of the lineup turn out.

Well for me... Forza 5 is enough. But then I have owned 2 racing wheels over the years for that series. One of them cost almost as much as a whole console. The only game series I've spent more money on is... Rock Band. I also have Ryse and Crimson Dragon pre-ordered, but I wouldn't call either system sellers for me. Dead Rising 3 ... the more I hear about it the more I seem likely to pre-order it as well. Might be a system seller for some people.
The multi-plats... a lot of those look awesome (Watch Dogs!) but hard to say if the Xbox One or PS4 versions will be the "one to get" at this point. Waiting on information.

Well for me... Forza 5 is enough. Same here. I'll probably pickup Watch Dogs and maybe COD day 1 as well, if I can afford it.

For me, I know I'm getting one well before any price cut would happen, and I don't want to keep buying new games for 360 if I'm just going to disconnect it soon. So I'd like to get Watch Dogs, etc on the One.
I don't know what I'm doing about GTA though. My PC will probably choke on it, but I don't want to buy it for a system I'm planning to mothball in a few months.

Welp, cancelling my pre-order for Forza 5 at Amazon.
Didn't realize that the 180 that MS pulled on the DRM meant that any retail purchased games would require the disc to play from now on. That being the case, I am going all digital, at least for games that I plan to play often over a long term, like Forza, Halo, COD and etc, mainly just because I don't want to have to get the disc out every time I want to play. Stuff I don't get on release day I could still see buying that digitally EDIT: at retail, particularly because I imagine places like Amazon will have those games at reduced price much faster than the Xbox online store.

yup, buying discs is insane and it's one of the reasons i think the MS 180 is super dumb even though the internet at large is splooging all over it.

I ended up cancelling my Forza 5 pre-order as well. But I did it to order the new Limited Edition pack with the VIP and stuff since that's the version I've gotten the last few times. The disk thing is a consequence and yeah, that move wasn't all good. But I don't personally have an issue flipping disks given that I run out of hard drive space routinely. My 120GB 360 drive... just hit full this week. Yup.

But seriously, unless there's some physical incentive like this, I can't see any reason to not buy digital for a new release.

I'm fine with that, provided that the digital prices stay about with the disk prices as games get older.
I played Forza 5 at PAX. I was surprised at how awesome the vibrating triggers felt. If you're stomping on the gas too hard, your gas trigger starts to vibrate. Simple enough, but instantly intuitive for things like threshold braking. Other than that and the improved DPad, the controller pretty much felt like the 360 one and Forza 5 pretty much played like Forza 4. Man, the anti-aliasing was horrible though, every time they did a camera pan for a car porn shot, the grille shimmered back and forth in a really eye gouging way.

I wondered how the rumble triggers would work, I felt like they would be too distracting, but they way you describe it for Forza 5 it makes sense and seems like it would be really useful. Did you try any other games that used the trigger vibration?
