Kicking this off with pics of the Dr. Pepper of Beers. An Aged Flemish Red (sour style) that was jacked up with cherries. The taste is very similar to cherry vanilla dr. pepper and while it's a bad example of a sour style it's very easy drinking. More sweet than sour, it goes down like soda really... which is shockingly dangerous for 8.5%

Oh I agree. And it was my birthday present from a friend who does the beer tour thing with me. Sure sure I got a few bottles from him. But the real present was that he told me where in Cleveland carried it... since it's a semi-rare find. The other Petrus beers are much easier to find... including the critically acclaimed Aged Pale.

It's pumpkin beer season already, folks. Prepare for disappointment!
Also, fuck Oktoberfests.

Tried a Scuttlebutt Porter this weekend. I found it to be very portery.

But after Oktoberfests come the winter stouts and other seasonals so I can tolerate it.

Fall/holiday beers to look forward to, porters, stouts, winter warmers, brown ales. Shit anything where the light has trouble getting through. Oh and the pumpkins, which I have to say while early, the pumking is super good this year. I'm drinking my 2nd bottle tonight.

Ahh Winter Welcome. Reminds me that when we were in Sequoia National Park in July, the camp store had them for just over 3 bucks a bottle. A better price than at Total Wine. I grabbed 6 and a juice for my boy. The register biscuit then rang me up for 1 Winter Welcome and 6 juices. It was a good day.

Octoberfest Marzen is a style that sounds better than it usually tastes. That would be my beef with it. Still there are a FEW I like.
I had my first pumpkin beer of the season. Hoppin' Frog Double Pumpkin. All the right spices, but it was missing something on the pumpkin side. More like half pumpkin than double. A good beer, but not the whole pumpkin pie in a glass that a really kick ass pumpkin beer can pull off.

Agree with this , wife was head over heels about the UFO pumpkin last year. I thought it was pretty good. The post yard , couldnt even tell it was a pumpkin, wasnt spiced nor did it seem to have any pumpkin flavor.

The LCBO is doing a World of Beers this month. Went in yesterday and their selection has grown by at least 20 kinds. Picked up an assortment. Tried the Barking Squirrel from Hop City Brewing and it was quite good.

I had a shot at the Double Pumpkin last night from hoppin frog. I really enjoyed it, it wasnt the sweetness of Pumking , but it hung on its own. I thought it was spiced perfectly and had a real nice pumpkin flavor, rich even.
